Thankfully, I don’t receive many messages or requests like these these days - but after 18+ years as a bridal makeup artist, I’ve definitely collected a few stories along the way 😭

All jokes aside, there’s a big difference between asking a genuine question and approaching a bridal artist as though we’re negotiating at the vegetable market.

Behind every bridal price is experience, skill, time, preparation and a complete service designed around getting you ready for one of the biggest days of your life. Whether you’re having 30 guests or 300, choosing soft bridal glam or something more glamorous, the level of work and care doesn’t suddenly change.

Questions I’m always surprised to get as a Bridal Hair & Makeup Artist…👀

When you book me for your wedding morning, you’re not booking a checklist of services. You’re booking me to take care of the complete bridal look - and all the little details in between 🤍

1. Are lashes included?
Always. I’ll select the style that best complements your eyes and overall bridal look.

2. Do you provide hair padding & extensions?
Yes. Padding and synthetic extensions are included where needed to create your chosen bridal hairstyle.*

3. Will you put my tikka & jewellery on?
Absolutely. Tikka, matha patti, passa and bridal hair jewellery placement are all part of finishing your look.

4. Do you help with my dupatta, veil or saree?
Yes. Dupatta and veil setting, plus bridal saree draping where required - securely placed and styled to work with your hair and jewellery.

5. Do you help me get dressed?
Of course. I’ll help with those final outfit details so everything sits exactly as it should before you step out.

But here’s the part that isn’t written on an inclusions list…

I’ll often stay an extra 20–30 minutes for your bridal portraits, checking your hair, jewellery, dupatta and outfit between shots so everything is sitting beautifully on camera.

I’ve helped mums and sisters pin their dupattas. Fixed a slipping chunni. Produced the emergency bobby pin, safety pin or chunni clip. Adjusted jewellery. Stepped in when something needs fixing.

Not because any of that was specifically “booked”.

Because you’re my bride - and I’m there to look after you.

That, to me, is what a bespoke luxury bridal service should feel like. It’s never simply “these five things are included and anything else is extra.”

Sometimes the most valuable parts of the service are the things you didn’t even know you’d need 🤍

Unpopular opinion: choosing your makeup artist on price alone can be an expensive mistake 👀

Because you’re not just paying for foundation, lashes and a hairstyle.

You’re paying for the years of experience behind knowing exactly how to work with your features.
The skill to make makeup look beautiful in person and on camera.
The ability to problem-solve when something doesn’t go to plan.
The products, preparation, timing, professionalism - and the calm energy you want around you on one of the biggest mornings of your life.

Can you find someone cheaper? Absolutely.

But the real question is: are you comparing the same level of service, skill and experience?

There’s a reason a Chanel bag and a high-street bag don’t carry the same price tag. They might technically serve the same purpose - but we all understand we’re not buying the same thing 😉

Your wedding morning is not really the day I’d recommend discovering the difference.

Price matters. But so does how you want to look, feel and remember yourself on the day.
